Art academy celebrates Earth Day early with fundraiser
Coverage of Colour Inspired Academy's Earth Day fundraiser held April 13, featuring an art contest, activities, and a community vote.
April 13, 2024 — Community event celebrating Earth Day with hands-on activities for all ages.
On April 13, ColourInspired Academy hosted a free community Earth Day Celebration featuring family-friendly activities including face painting, button-making, and a photo zone. Doors were open from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The event invited community members to participate in a vote to choose a winner who took home a special prize.
As part of the celebration we launched an art contest called "I Can Change the World" that challenged participants to create artwork using recycled and recyclable materials. The contest aimed to harness creativity to raise awareness about sustainability and inspire positive change in our community.
The mission of the contest was to use art as a tool to change minds, prompt conversation, and evoke emotions that encourage greener, more mindful behaviour. Artists were encouraged to reflect on how small actions can lead to meaningful environmental impact.
The contest welcomed young artists and community members to showcase creative interpretations of how they can positively impact the environment through recycling and reuse. Works made from recyclable materials, upcycled objects, and found materials were especially encouraged.
Attendees voted during the event to select a crowd-favourite. The chosen winner received a special prize donated by our partners.
We welcomed donations at the event and online. All proceeds from donations will go directly toward planting new trees in local parks to support community greening and environmental education.
